Leather construction with brass clasp & lock, engraved “Furness Railway Superintendant of the Line” accompanied by a book W McGowan Gradon BA, titled “Furness Railway its Rise and Development 1946-1923. v.g.c. case measures 15″ x 12” including handle. This brief case was probably handed down to the incoming Superintendant, James Ramsden 1846-1850, Richard Mason 1850-1896, lastly, William Pettigrew 1896-1918.
