MODERN IMAGE NAMEPLATE “BRITISH STEEL ORB”.

Description

One of the original nameplates produced to commemorate the many British Steel plants across the UK. The plates were destined to be carried by class 37’s & class 56’s but before all the plates were allocated to locos the plan was shelved.
Around 20 or so locos (class 37’s & cl 56’s) actually carried nameplates relating to the British Steel locations/plants such as :-
37152 – British Steel Ravenscraig
37156 – British Steel Hunterston
37505 – British Steel Workington
56045 – British Steel Shelton
56050 – British steel Teesside.

British Steel Orb was one of the half dozen manufactured plates never allocated and remained in storage until entering the collectors market.
