Locomotive Works Number Plate “North Eastern Railway Darlington Works 1919 2244” Note: This is quite a rare 9 x 5 as it is North Eastern Rly. The LNER adopted the NER idea of loco works numberplates. This being an original NER plate, cast iron, overstripped later with BR number “63401” cast brass. As carried by Raven Q6 heavy freight loco. Allocations included Hull, Dairycoates, and Springhead, W’ Hartlepool, Neville Hill, Newport Teeside, Middlesborough, Thornaby, Tyne Dock. Withdrawn in 1964. Embossed cast brass over strip.
